Personalized Learning - One Size is not Effective for All

As employees, we have different motivations and expectations from our workplace and the tasks provided to us. Learning is a psychological process that should be focused on how much an individual can retain and organize information which can be done by judging their behaviors, value systems, personalities, experiences, and other expectations. Everyone comes with different goals and ideas, which must be aligned with the company. Therefore, learning, which is also training, should be individualized. Personalized learning is the most dependable form of personal business training that can help increase an employee’s performance. It is a differentiated way of providing instructions and assisting candidates practice their skills in real-life situations. It begins by understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the individual and then customizing the training and learning program according to the behaviors and the personality. For example, it is not easy to gauge and analyze the skills and abilities of an introverted person. Therefore, a personality test can be conducted to receive insights into the behavior, mindset, and personality of a person. It will help to organize the training program and increase its success.

Personalized Training Based on Learning Styles

An effective teacher in the classroom utilizes different learning styles to provide differentiated teaching. It is how a teacher analyzes the expectations and abilities of every student to retain information and plan their instructional matters accordingly. In the same way, the business domain has personalized learning depending on individual needs. It is because, in any business setting, one person may quickly pick up the information while others struggle to understand what it means and how to apply it. Rather than accepting that some employees are incapable of the job, it is best that we teach and provide training instructions that will help everyone in the group. According to researchers, all of us belong to multiple intelligences, and it is important to design our training methods for every category. For instance, some may understand better with examples, and others may realize better through logic and numbers. Differentiated learning can be simplified in training models, which enables the candidate to learn more and use them in real-life situations.

Personalized Training for Visual Learners

As we belong to multiple intelligences, every participant must undergo a DiSC assessment to familiarize the trainer with an individual’s personality and behavior styles. It will help trainers to organize their teaching in such a way that it engages every participant and helps them retain the information. For visual learners, trainers must provide images or real-life situations with examples while teaching them how to navigate chaotic situations. For instance, you could utilize online virtual games and artificial intelligence to show them how to increase their critical reasoning and engage with other participants to solve problems. Visual learners find it easy to learn by seeing things, and while you’re teaching the sales process, you can either show the learners a video, presentation, or even graphs to make them understand the importance of the skill.
